Peas Peas and more Peas!

After learning apples were phase 2 foods I did some more research and looked into what Keifer could eat that would be easy on his stomach. I learned that you are suppose to start with Prunes, Peaches, Apricots, or Peas. With Peaches and Apricots being out of season I tried prunes. Keifer seemed to be ok with them and he ate them for a week but after him not giving much of a reaction I tried peas. Those without a shadow of a doubt I know he loves!!! Jason recorded these 2 videos. They are so cute : )

Applesauce

I waited until Keifer was 6 months old to introduce "solids" into his diet. A week before Keifer turned 6 months old I went and bought a baby food puree maker. The first thing I tried with him was pureed Apples. He made some really funny faces and seemed to really like eating like a "big person" However we learned the hard way two days later that apples are not suppose to be fed until phase 2 foods which is 8-9 months. We had two days of screaming and constipation so needless to say he hasn't had them since!

I was the only one home with him while feeding so I had to set the camera up to record and unfortunately I laid it on it's side and now the video is on it's side but just cock your head and enjoy!!!

Happy Half a Year!!!!

It just amazes me how 6 months is such a short time but Keifer has changed and grown light-years in that short amount of time! I can't help but think back to the night we brought him home and how tiny he was. It was so surreal holding this beautiful little boy that was all mine. All I could think was how happy I was and how I wanted to do right by him. After all he was counting on Jason and I to be his sole providers and teach him everything he need to know. I had so many nightmares about going days and forgetting to feed him. (Which thankfully never came true lol) Now all of those worries seemed so silly. We got into a routine and God gives you instinct to know what they need.
In his short 6 months Keifer has a little over doubled his weight since he was born. He weighs 13lbs. 8oz. and is 28 inches long. He is rolling ALL over the place and sits up on his own pretty good. He is still in size 0-3 months clothes and wears size 1 diapers. He is sleeping 11-12 hours at night before waking up to eat and takes 2 naps a day from 1.5-2 hours long. He still goes to bed at 7:00pm. He reaches out for you when he wants you to hold him and we are starting to learn his personality. Which is a BLAST!!! One thing I've defiantly noticed about Keifer is he is very alert to his surroundings. He looks around like he assessing the situation and watches people like he is trying to read them. Not just anyone can make him smile, he likes to study people and try to figure them out. We are so blessed to be his parents and have had so much fun getting to know him!

Dallas Arboretum

November 7th is my youngest sister's birthday and this year it fell on a Monday. Which was perfect because she doesn't have work or school that day and I of course was available. She had been talking for weeks how she wanted to go to the Dallas Arboretum and every day we tried the weather or Keifer didn't corporate. This time of the year they had a pumpkin patch and LaDonna loves nature so it was the perfect place to surprise her for her birthday. I told her just to get dressed and I picked her up early in the morning and we headed to Dallas. Going on a Monday was perfect because there was hardly anyone there and we had time to see everything. Keifer, as alert as he always is, loved it. He sat in his stroller and stared at all the colors and reached for the trees and flowers as we passed. It was a quiet and relaxing morning.
